The Cost of Obesity

Our social responsibility to maintain a healthy lifestyle!

Obesity – a National Epidemic!

Nearly half of all adults in the US have Type 2 diabetes, hypertension and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, according to data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.

Our Social Responsibility to Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle

The problem of obesity can be solved if we take a societal change of cultural and attitude toward food and exercise. It will take innovative incentives. The ideal medical saving accounts provides that incentive and that it’s our social responsibility to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Parents must take responsibility for their children’s welfare and include fitness programs in their daily routine. Providing them with high-quality food, limit television and computer viewing, and modelling a healthful lifestyle is the way to start. But why should parents efforts to protect their children from life-threatening illness be undermined by massive marketing campaigns from the manufacturers of junk food? Why are their children subjected to the temptation of such food in the school cafeteria and vending machines? Why don’t they have the opportunity to exercise their bodies during the school day?

We Have the Power to Choose the Shape of Things to Come

Fortunately, with the exercise of both personal and social responsibility, we have the power to choose the shape of things to come.
