This Valentines, consider adding a partner workout into your romance plans.  If you don’t have a significant other, don’t worry, grab a friend or other gym rat and try these six fun, but challenging partner exercises. Stay active!

Grab Your Significant Other or a Gym Buddy for these Partner Exercises

sledgehammer1. Sledgehammer Squat and Arm Lift with Tubing

  1. Partners stand facing each other; each holding one end of a stretch tube
  2. Stand far enough apart so as to put tension on the tubing
  3. Partner A pulls the tubing down and between his legs, while Partner B pulls the tubing up above her head
  4. Partner B then pulls the tubing down between her legs, while Partner A pulls the tubing above his head
  5. Repeat for 10-20 repetitions

2. Tubing Reverse Side Stepstubing exercise

  1. Grab an large elastic band and wrap it around both partners’ hips
  2. Facing each other, step back a few feet putting tension on the band
  3. Both partners step sideways to the their right and balance on one foot
  4. Switch and step left
  5. Repeat for 10-20 repetitions

3. Lunge with a Twist

  1. Partners stand side-by-side, each holding one end of the stretch tube with both hands
  2. Stand far enough apart to ensure there is tension on the tubing
  3. Both partners lunge forward – the person on the right steps forward with the right leg and the person on the left steps forward with the left leg.
  4. Sink low into the lunge, then twist away from your partner
  5. Repeat for 10 repetitions then switch sides

4. Wheelbarrow push-up with Bent Over Rowpush up

  1. Partner A assumes a push-up, plank position, while Partner B holds partner A’s ankles
  2. Partner A performs a push-up while Partner B performs a Bent Over Row
  3. Repeat for 10 repetitions, then switch positions

plank tap5. Plank, Reach and touch shoulder

  1. Both partners get into a push-up, plank position facing one another, head to head about a foot apart
  2. Both partners raise their right hand and touch the inside right arm of one another
  3. Quickly switch arms
  4. Repeat for 10 repetitions

6. Side Plank with Twist and Clapside plank

  1. Both partners get into a side plank position with their backs to each other and feet hip width apart.
  2. Both partners reach to the ceiling and touch each others’ hands
  3. Next, reach to the floor and clap partner’s hand underneath
  4. Repeat for 10 repetitions, then switch sides
